As a kid in rural Tennessee, movies were my escape and my joy. I got to imagine places, people, and relationships I never got to see at school or church. Movies gave me the imagination to want more, to explore, and to appreciate the messiness of humanity.

I love all types of movies, but I especially like it when a movie trusts me enough not to explain itself. No villain to blame, no tidy lesson at the end, just people being complicated and the camera staying with them long enough that I can see myself in there.

For most of my life I've watched movies alone, and I love that. But now I'm back in Tennessee and I'm wanting to find community with others who want to enjoy and appreciate this artform together.

I don't know what to expect with this group. But I wanted to do it for me. It's something I love and I wanted to bring more intention to it.
