About

Adam

Hi, I'm Adam. I've watched a lot of movies, but the ones I actually care about are the ones that won't let me go. I'll finish something and spend the next three days turning it over, trying to figure out why one look between two people got under my skin the way it did.

The films I love are mostly about wanting. Wanting a person, wanting a different life, wanting something you can feel but can't quite name or hold onto. I like it when a movie trusts me enough not to explain itself. No villain to blame, no tidy lesson at the end, just people being complicated and the camera staying with them long enough that I start to see myself in there. And every once in a while, after all that patience, a film hands you a moment of grace you didn't see coming and maybe didn't earn, and I'm a total sucker for that.

I also think this kind of art works best when it's shared. Watching alone is fine, but sitting in a dark room with a few people, nobody on their phone, and then talking about it afterward is when a film really opens up. Someone notices a thing you missed and suddenly it's a different movie. That's what I wanted the salon to be. Come watch something great with me and let's figure out what it meant together.

I log pretty much everything I watch on Letterboxd if you want to snoop. And if you've never been to a screening, first.
